- Abstract
- This is Dai Richards' 'Lions' jersey from the tour to South Africa in 1980. Dai played 7 matches on the tour before injury curtailed his campaign. Missing the opening game against Eastern Provinces, he played in the next 5 consecutive wins over SARA XV, Natal, SA Invitation, Orange Free State and SAR Federation XV before playing in the first Test match (lost 22 - 26) against the Springboks on 31st May 1980. In the following match Richards scored a try in the win over Transvaal on 7th June but unfortunately suffered an injury that ended his tour. He was presented with this jersey by the SARFU.
