This season saw Swansea play South Africa at St Helen's for the fifth time (1912, 1931, 1951 & 1960). The game on 15th November 1969 was won 12 - 0 by the Springboks but was marred by disorder outside and within the ground as anti-apartheid demonstrators staged protests and the police became involved with protestors and supporters in violence. It was the last time the Springboks toured the UK until 1994, after their rehabilitation in the rugby world following a lengthy exile. Stuart Davies captained the Swansea side.
