                        -
This is the jersey worn by H R (Herbert, Reid) Aston, the Irish outside-half during the international match v Wales at Balmoral, Dublin on 14th March 1908. Wales won the match 11 - 5 and so completed their fifth Triple Crown. Aston scored a first half try for Ireland, answered by Cardiff's Jonnie Williams, both being converted. At 5 - 5, with minutes left in the second half, a bewildering sequence of Welsh passing begun by Swansea half-backs Dickie Owen and Dick Jones, twice left the Irish defence stationary and sending Williams over for a second try and Reggie Gibbs for another to claim the Triple Crown.
