Abstract

This engraved plate commemorates the centenary of the Ponsonby Rugby Club and was presented to Swansea RFC when the two clubs played at St Helen's on 23 March 1974. this was also Swansea RFC's centenary (dated from the conversion to rugby rules in 1873-74, not the foundation in 1872-73). The match was a free flowing affair with 46 points scored, Swansea winning eventually by 26 - 20. Wing Gwynfor Higgins scored a try and full-back Roger Blyth got 2 more and a penalty and 4 conversions (22 points).
