Abstract: This dinner menu is from the celebratory dinner given to the touring Australian team who played Swansea on 3rd November 1973 during Swansea's Centenary Season. The match was drawn 9 - 9. There is a hand written note in blue biro pen by T J V ("Matty") Davies, the Swansea club Chairman that season. He writes: "If you have not struck oil in five minutes stop boring!" This would have referred to another speaker at the dinner, possibly about to stand and talk. 'Matty' Davies was a renowned raconteur and this was presumably a warning not to tax the audience's patience.
