This is the Glamorgan County cap of Swansea forward Dai Samuel. He and his brother Jack were selected to play for the County team v Lancashire at St Helen’s on 18th March 1893. This was the first time the recently formed county side played a home match. The Samuel brothers were joined by Swansea skipper Billy Bancroft and forward team mate Frank Mills in the County side. The match finished scoreless and the Samuels ended their rugby careers at the end of the season. So this was the only county cap won by Dai or his brother.
