This medal celebrating Wales having won three consecutive Triple Crowns, was presented to Swansea and Wales lock Geoff Wheel, who had played in all three tournaments. It was the first time a country had won three Triple Crowns consecutively. With the third success also came Wales' eighth Grand Slam. Geoff Wheel was a member of FOUR Triple Crown Welsh teams: 1976, 1977, 1978 & 1979.
