This Swansea cap was awarded to forward David 'Dai' Samuel, who played for the club from 1889 to 1893. He made 64 appearances for the Swansea 1st XV and 3 for the 'seconds'. He also won two Welsh caps between 1891 and 1893, the first with his brother Jack and the second in Wales' first ever Triple Crown season. Dai Samuel was part of Swansea's great team led by forward Billy Bowen. They won back to back titles as 'WELSH PREMIER' side in 1889-90 and 1890-91. Dai and his brother also played for Manselton Rangers, Morriston and Glamorgan County.
