This is one of a set of nine images from a French sporting publication Mirrior des Sports published on 1st March 1923 following the international match between Wales and France at St Helen's on 24th February 1923. Wales won the match 16 - 8. Swansea forward and captain Tom Parker skippered the Welsh team and was joined in the pack by club team mate Gwilym Michael. Swansea wing Rowe Harding also played in this match as did full back Joe Rees. The image shows Llanelli stand-off E John being tackled by France centre A. Jauregny (Stade Touloussain with the houses on Bryn Road visible in the background. The St Helen's Archive holds the jerseys of two French players from this match: forward and captain Félix "René" Lasserre (Cognac) and full back Jean Clement (Valence). Lasserre scored one of France's two tries. Rowe Harding scored one of Wales' three tries and Joe Rees kicked a penalty.
