Exhibitions
Materials from the Collection
The Collection contains a rich and diverse variety of materials marking the history of computation, which are useful for creating exhibitions. For example, it posesses:
- Hardware, including full systems, components and accessories
- Software
- Computing manuals and ephemera
- Books and printed material
- Storage Media
- Research Collections and Personal Archives including manuscripts
- Photographs, videos and audio recordings
Only a small number of such materials are on permanent exhibition inside the University. At present, in the Computational Foundry in the Bay Campous, we have an exhibition on the development of Personal Computing situated in the Robert Recorde Room, and an exhibition on scientific computing and Linux in the Boardroom.
Items from the Collection have been borrowed as exhibits in other exhibitions, for example:
- Women in Science and Technology at the University Library, March-April 2024 to coincide with International Womens day (March 8th)
- Urdd Eidstedfodd, 27th May - 1st June 2024
