The notes from his lecture read 'Here we have a small barrage at Esna which spans a canal cut for the purpose of irrigation. This canal is 50 miles long. This view is similar to EC1753 and EC1792.

The notes from his lecture read 'Here we have the Sudanese guard who guard the barrage. They all readily fell in for me to take their photos and naturally expected me to show it to them as soon as I had taken it, but of course that didn't come off.'
