Abstract: This photographic collage represents the openng of Swansea RFC's Centenary season of 1973-74 when they played the touring Fijians at St Helen's. On a burning hot afternoon Swansea sported their centenary colours of navy with white and maroon hoops with an 'Osprey' motif placed in a white shield under the SC&FC initials. The Fijians dominated the game and won a fast paced encounter by 31 - 0. Swansea were captained this season by scrum-half Robert Dyer. Swansea recovered from the unfortunate start to their celebratory season and ended it as Welsh Merit Table Champions, winning 31 out of 47 fixtures. The Swansea team this day was: 1 Phil Llewellyn, 2 Alan Mages, 3 Neil Webb, 4 Geoff Wheel, 5 Barry Clegg, 6 Trevor Evans, 7 Roger Hyndman, 8 Mervyn Davies, 9 Rob Dyer, 10 David Richards, 11 John Walters, 12 Allan Lewis, 13 Daryl Cole, 14 John Davies, 15 John Evans.
