This is the Welsh cap awarded to Swansea forward David "Dai" Samuel in 1891. Samuel won two Welsh caps, both against Ireland and both at Stradey Park, Llanelli. His first on 7th March 1891 saw Wales beat Ireland 6-4. Dai Samuel played alongside his brother Jack and scored Wales' only try. Swansea skipper Billy Bancroft converted and also dropped a goal. Samuel missed the 1892 internationals but won his second cap on 11th March 1893 when Wales beat Ireland to win their first ever Triple Crown. Dai Samuel played 64 matches for Swansea's 1st XV between 1889 and 1893. He and his brother also played for Mansleton, Morriston and Glamorgan County.
