On 23rd March 1974 Swansea, in their Centenary Season, played host to New Zealand club Ponsonby RFC at St Helens in a match "The Whites" won by 26 points to 20. Wing Gwynfor Higgins scored a try and full-back Roger Blyth grabbed two more plus a conversion and 4 penalties for a personal tally of 22 points. All Blacks wing Brian Williams played in the Ponsonby side.
