Abstract
-
Formed in 1872 and converting to rugby rules alone in 1874, Swansea RFC celebrated the centenary of that milestone in 1973-74, this jersey being spacially produced and worn during the season. The Osprey motif was adopted as then Chairman Viv Davies explained: "because of its speed, grace, commitment and beauty in flight." Fiji, Romania, Ponsonby, Australia and a WRU President's XV were all played at St Helen's during the Centenary Season which Swansea ended as Merit Table Champions. Mervyn Davies wore this jersey during 1973-74 and kindly gifted it to Swansea RFC.
